I'd like to get one thing off my chest before I take up the mask of professionalism; I have just set this particular blog up for the purposes of documenting my dissertation, with many more posts to follow over the coming months. To the Stephen Hibberd of Edinburgh who took "StephenHibberd.blogspot.com", and hasn't added a single post, I brand you a thief and a knave.
("It could have been mine, it should be mine! Give it to me!")
Now that that's out of the way, I can continue better-composed and with no regrets.
My name is Stephen Hibberd, and I am a student at University Campus Suffolk. As I have stated, this blog will track the progess of my dissertation, one of the final parts of my enrollment at UCS's Computer Games Design course. If you are intersted in the course or the university, it is located in Ipswich, Suffolk, and focuses on Arts and Humanities, Business, and Applied Social Science.
Their website can be found here: http://www.ucs.ac.uk/home.aspx
The focus of my dissertation (while not yet final) will likely be on coding, and more specifically my learning of the coding language C# over the course of the year, primarily on the Unity engine. At this time, I intend to undergo a series of mini-projects spanning two to three weeks in length, creating small, simple games singularly in C#. This would demonstrate my abilities both to grasp new coding skills and apply them in the creation of games.
This means that the games or game prototypes I create would typically be lacking in well-drawn art assets, and in refined gameplay. They would be intended to demonstrate my coding ability, not to create a good game; evidence of being capable of creating good games will come from my previous projects on the course, and from my Group Game Project which I will be working on at the same time as this project.
I will create a more formal proposition of my dissertation on this blog when I have discussed it further with my tutors, with any updates to the parameters.
Until then, I wish you an excellent day, dear reader.
-The One True Stephen Hibberd
